The Model 1 is a 15w amp that features EL84 output tubes, an EF86 in v1 and 12AX7 in v2. Solid state or GZ34 rectifier. Volume and tone controls. Optional treble and/or bass boost switch, negative feedback control are available as well.

The Model 1 circuit came about through Hammond AO-35 conversions back in 2014, followed by the Watkins WEM Dominator Mk III popping up. As these are hard to come by in the US, I decided to build my own. The Model 1 went through a few iterations in both the Hammond AO-35 chassis and slightly higher voltage AO-43 chassis before settling on the current version that features an EF86 in V1 and Volume/Tone configuration.

With all of my amps, my goal is to get the signal from your fingers to the speaker the shortest route possible so as to capture all of the sonic information of your playing and to enrich the interactive experience of playing electric guitar through an amp. All of my builds are hardwired featuring turret or point to point construction. I employ thoughtful lead dress, component choice and DC filament voltage on V1 to minimize noise & maximize tone.

The Model 1 is made to order. Please allow 4-6 weeks for delivery. I will reach out to you directly to confirm specs & cabinet design.

Gotta let you know that this amp is totally exceeding all expectations. There’s this fullness and compression to the tone that’s just great. I love my deluxe but the highs can get thin and brittle, the lows loose and mushy, and the break up kinda ratty. This one the highs are clear but smooth and full, the lows fat and tight, and the breakup really even and musical. Totally digging it!  Took it to a jam Friday and it was baptism by fire - a great drummer and a pretty aggressive indie rock bass player. Louder and more rock than I usually play but the amp held its own. Both knobs at 1-2 o’clock with a reverb pedal in front got me most of the sounds I wanted, great clean and mild break up sounds. Box of Rock overdrive sounded great but the amp sustains so well I didn’t need it much. I used the boost side of the BOR and got some really cool Tom Verlaine sounds. -Martin W
